Mondays Are Twice As Nice…and Long

If you pay attention to TalkRadioX then this is old news.

Mondays The Radio Dan Show is a whopping two hours long!  That’s right there’s now more of me to love.  Or if you listen to the replay then Tuesdays at 2pm you’ll notice that I’m doing extra duty.

I’m not sure how long this will last.  So far I’ve two Mondays this way and honestly it’s a lot of fun.   It’s certainly feels like a challenge to have that much to talk about.   I’m only taking the one break at the top of the hour so we’ll see how long that lasts.

Recently I was listening The Dan LeBatard Show on 790 AM here in South Florida. My favorite radio show by far.  Dan had announced they were doing one hour commercial free but would do a couple of live spots.  So I thought this would be great until they played a Letterman clip that was about 5 minutes long.  The rest of the hour was pretty cluncky.  I hope that’s not how I’m sounding.

The Live Test Show will now be doing two hours on Friday nights starting at 8pm, so everything balances out.   Go on now, tell some friends.

Dan Le Batard: Genius at Work

I love The Dan Le Batard Show.

Talk radio in South Florida became a lot more fun when this show hit the air a few years back.  For those of you who don’t know it’s a great mix of sports and pop culture.  Dan is a really funny guy and while I don’t agree with everything he says, he certainly has raised the bar when it comes to avoiding lame sports cliches.

So yesterday when driving up to Boynton Beach I heard his interview with super swimmer Michael Phelps, and radio magic happened yet again.  Dan asked a bunch of fairly stupid questions which led to Phelps deciding he’s had enough and ending it.  But the best part comes when Phelps did not hang up initially so you get to hear him complain about the interview being ‘ridiculous’ and refer to Dan with ‘that guy’s a joke’.

All in a day’s work for Lebby who works hard at seeming to not work hard.  But what I like about Dan is that he won’t ask the same questions that everyone else is asking.  He’s also not afraid to ask something that might seem awkward.  He takes his lumps from time to time, as with Phelps (the questions of whether or not he takes Kelloggs boxes with his pic on them and drop them in nightclubs was the deal breaker here) but for my money no does better interviews.

Stupid questions for Phelps?  Yeah.  But it was fun.

A Mustache? Hilarious!

I’m not really sure when it happened, but somewhere along the way the fact that someone has a mustache has become a source of humor. Granted there are plenty of mustaches out there that are funny, but now it seems any old ’stache is worth a mention in a blog and few chuckles.

Rollie Fingers had a mustache that worth admiration and a few laughs.

Hey no one loves a good laugh like me, but I must admit I really fail to see the humor in all the mustache nonsense going around. A local radio show I listen to, The Dan LeBatard Show, would have you believe that wearing a mustache is the height of hilarity, as they are mentioned just about every single show.

Also in this I present the mullet. Granted the mullet is an awful hairstyle worthy of mockery. This is true. But for all the pub mullets get, it’s not really that funny. In fact it’s just stupid. And if you’re one of those people out there who throws out the “business in the front, party in the back” lines whenever the subject comes up, just stop. Please just stop.

Thank you.
